White Cloud 7-4, M.C. Eastern 2-0

CUSTER — Mason County Eastern dropped a nonconference softball doubleheader to visiting White Cloud on Thursday at St. Mary's Field. The scores were 7-4 and 2-0.
“They’re a good team. We should have won the first game,” said Eastern coach Bill Cole.
But the Cardinals had problems in the second inning, giving up six runs.
Kara Bryan pitched for Eastern and allowed eight hits and seven runs, three of which were earned. She struck out four and walking three.
Courtney Harris led MCE with two hits, one a triple, and Jessica Budzynski and Sara Luce had a hit apiece.
In the second game, the Cardinal stuggled at the plate.
“If you can’t hit the ball, you can’t score, it’s as simple as that,” said Cole, whose team is now 16-6.
Melanie Stickney pitched the entire game for Eastern, allowing four runs, two of them earned, on five hits. She struck out five.
Eastern’s oly hits were by Budzynski and Luce.
